NATHAN TABORíS STATEMENT ON MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CRISIS OF SKYROCKETING INSURANCE RATES

Kernersville, NC - U.S. House of Representatives candidate Nathan Tabor today released the following statement of support of Medical Malpractice legislation that would put a cap on non-economic damages at $250,000.

ìCreating a system that is fair to doctors and patients is of the utmost importance to me. North Carolinians are losing good doctors due to the high price of malpractice insurance. There are many problems with the system, but this is an important way to stop frivolous law suits and get physicians back to work and out of the court room,î said Tabor.

Tabor went on to say that, ìWorking together with Republicans and Democrats is important to getting this legislation passed ñ otherwise, our medical community will face a severe lack of coverage due to high prices.î

The nationís healthcare system is in crisis. Greedy lawyers and intrusive government regulation have made the practice of medicine an undesirable field of study for young people and caused many physicians and dentists to stop practicing all together. Medicare reimbursements are decreasing as our cost of doing business is increasing. At the same time, doctors are being dropped from their malpractice insurance plans and there is a lack of the dollars we need for medical research.

Itís time that something needs to be done to help doctors. I have taken the unusual step of endorsing and supporting my friend, Nathan Tabor, in his bid to replace Congressman Richard Burr. I have never endorsed or even sent a contribution to a local political candidate before in my life, and I certainly have never actively campaigned for anyone. I am doing this for Nathan because I know he will go to Washington and fight for tort reform, increased Medicare reimbursements for doctors, and increasing funds for medical research. I hope you will join me in supporting Nathan.

Five years ago, Nathanís family started the company Physicians Pharmaceuticals Inc, maker of Revival Soy. This medical-research based company has grown 200% a year in each of the last four years while Nathan has served the company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He has created jobs for families here in North Carolina at a time when major corporations have had to lay off their workers. We know Nathan will bring that type of success to Congress and will work hard to pass legislation to aide the medical community.

Nathan is poised to win this election but he needs your help. If you could contribute the maximum amount of $2,000 to his campaign, that would enable him to get his message on television and radio. I know thatís a lot to ask and please note that contributions of $250, $500 and $1,000 will go a long way in helping Nathan reach his goals.

You may have noticed that the other two candidates are spending a lot of money on radio and TV ads. Much of the financing for these ads is coming in from out of state trial lawyers. Did you know that lawyers outspend physicians 25 to 1 in elections? It is time for physicians to stand up for our patients and our profession.
