Creating Jobs
"Creating jobs, getting our local economy moving, is a key for our 5th District. As a small businessman with a locally owned and based headquarters and distribution facility with over 130+ employees, I'll use the congressional seat to tirelessly promote our region to businesses looking to expand and/or re-locate. We have the best workers in the world, abundant natural resources, low taxes, superb local governments that are service oriented, and a truly unique quality of life to offer businesses. That's the message I will take as we aggressively recruit new businesses and encourage expansion for our existing businesses."

"In addition, I will push for better vocational training equipment and facilities -- along with more public/private partnerships -- for both our high school students, technical school students and older workers looking to learn new job skills."back to top

Taxes and Spending
“I agree with President Bush’s tax cut plan -- specifically that we should end the marriage penalty now, fully implement the child tax credit now and end the tax on dividends. Meeting payrolls, making tough decisions, balancing budgets and looking for ways to become more efficient has given me years of experience on how to run a successful and profitable business. I will take this experience with me to Washington in examining the federal budget and looking for ways to save taxpayer dollars while making government programs work for our citizens. I commit right from the beginning to oppose tax increases on our families or businesses.”back to top

Family Values
“Faith and family are the two foundations of our nation. I’ll stand up to those liberals who desire to drive every reference to faith and God from our public lives while infringing on the rights of parents and harming our families. To me this means defining marriage as between one woman and one man, supporting prayer in our schools and protecting the rights of our churches and citizens to practice our faith.”back to top

Supporting Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters and EMT
"Our police officers, fire fighters and EMTs work hard and put their lives on the line for us. They deserve the best equipment, training, healthcare and salaries possible."

Health Care
“I oppose a nationalized health care system that will create a huge new government bureaucracy to control health care decisions. As we seek to strengthen health care for our families we must keep several central values in mind. Patients and their doctors, not government bureaucrats, should be making health care decisions. Medicare should be kept as it is for those who choose it but we should offer our seniors health care choices similar to the health plan options available to government employees. It's wrong when our seniors have to choose between paying monthly bills or getting the prescription drugs they need. I'll fight to lower prescription drug costs for our seniors while also giving our elderly more control over
health care decisions under the Medicare program."back to top

Education
"Educating our children starts with parents and teachers. That's why I aim to make sure that education decisions are being made locally instead of in Washington, D.C. by government bureaucrats. As a member of Congress I'll encourage our schools to focus on high academic standards, strong discipline in the classroom, a focus on key basics like reading and math, and better vocational training facilities for students wishing to learn a trade. I support voluntary prayer led by students in our schools."back to top

Agriculture
"Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of the 5th Congressional District. I believe we must do everything we can to protect and support our agricultural industry. I will work to reduce unnecessary regulations within the Department of Agriculture that impose necessary costs on the industry. I will also work to open up and expand markets for American agriculture products across the world. In Congress I will also be committed to protecting the family farm. I will work to permanently eliminate the estate and capital gains tax. By eliminating the burden these taxes place on family farmers, we can help ensure that family farms can be passed on from one generation to another."back to top

Homeland Security
"I believe that protecting our country and our borders from those who want to attack this great country is of the utmost importance. After the great national tragedy of September 11th, we must remain vigilant and do everything possible to ensure the safety of our citizens. Guaranteeing that our local police and fire departments have every resource necessary to protect us will be a top priority of mine in Congress. I will also work to ensure that our military and intelligence communities have the support and resources they needs to do their vitally important jobs right. Finally, I will never waver from the belief that we can protect this great country of ours without infringing on the basic freedoms that as citizens we all cherish."back to top

School Prayer
"Our children deserve the right to pray at school. We must oppose liberals like the ACLU that want to ban all references to faith and God from our public lives."

2nd Amendment
"I'm a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights. After all, my family has long hunted together for many years. In Congress, I will oppose all gun control legislation while working to protect the rights of law abiding gun-owners. The right of people to keep and bear arms will not be infringed." click here to read more.

Social Security
"First, our government made a sacred promise to our citizens to make Social Security a reality for Americans when they retire. This promise must be kept. Social Security must be strengthened and it must be preserved for our seniors. The current system is solvent but down the road as more baby boomers retire there will be a financial strain. We must find ways to preserve the current system for those who want to keep Social Security as it is, while exploring ways to allow Americans who wish to increase their potential yield to do so within the system."back to top

Protecting Life
“Life is a precious gift from God. In Congress, I’ll vote to end abortions and protect unborn children. Hopefully, we will achieve a Supreme Court that will allow the legislative branch the Constitutional latitude it should have to protect life. In the meantime as a member of Congress I will vote to end partial-birth abortions, to make sure tax dollars are not used to fund abortions or to fund foreign programs that promote abortion, to pass parental notification and consent legislation and to make it a crime for adults to transport minors across state lines to avoid state notification laws. In addition, I will support laws to ban euthanasia and cloning that cheapens life.” "Since life is a precious gift from God, we should not tamper with the creation of life through cloning. Therefore, I will support efforts to ban the cloning of human beings."back to top

Tobacco
“As a small business owner, I am going to Washington to fight against government bureaucracies and the regulations imposed on businesses. I am against placing additional regulations on the tobacco industry and will fight to ensure that none are passed. Growing up on a farm in Alabama, I understand the issues and concerns that farmers and their families face everyday. Two things are for sure, farmers need to be able to make a good living and tobacco manufacturers need to thrive and profit in the U.S.”back to top

Illegal Immigration:
"Ours is a nation of immigrants. Over the last 200 years immigrants have literally helped build our nation as the United States became the great "melting pot" where people from across the world became Americans. Legal immigration within limits which are carefully considered each year is still an asset to our nation.

However, in recent years illegal immigration has reached epidemic proportion with an estimated four million to six million illegal aliens residing within our borders.

In Congress, I will oppose those who call for a general amnesty for illegal aliens because such legislation would reward those who break the law. I will support tightening security on our borders by modernizing surveillance equipment, funding additional border guards and improving training for existing personnel. We also need to streamline procedures for deporting illegal aliens once they are found."back to top

Military:
"I'm going to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Bush to win the war on terrorism, protect our Homeland and finish the job in Iraq. Our Armed Forces are the best trained, best equipped and most highly motivated force in the world. Our job is to maintain this edge. We must adequately fund our military in the face of calls from many liberals who want to cut defense spending to the bone. The men and women of our Armed Forces deserve higher pay, better housing and more funds for training. Weapons systems must be upgraded to ensure that our ships, airplanes, tanks and small-arms are far superior to any potential enemies."back to top

Veterans:
Nathan Tabor believes that we owe a tremendous debt to those Americans who have sacrificed so much in protecting and defending our country. As our next Congressman, Nathan will work tirelessly to make sure our nation's Veterans receive the benefits they deserve. He will work to ensure that we adequately fund veterans healthcare so that veterans can receive the healthcare they need. Nathan will also work to eliminate the unfair law that reduces the benefits military retirees are paid by the amount they receive in disability payment for injuries incurred during their service to our country. Nathan will also work to make sure Veterans' have the right to seek legal advice.

As Americans, we all have been blessed by the sacrificial service of the bravest and most noble soldiers in the world. Nathan knows we owe each one of these men and women, and their families, an unspeakable debt of gratitude. Nathan believes that veterans deserve not only the best benefits available, but also alternative options to best accommodate their specific needs.back to top

FairTax:
Our current system of taxation in the United States is fundamentally flawed. The income tax code has become so overly burdensome and complicated that fundamental change is necessary. That is why I support the FairTax bill to replace our antiquated, unfair, income tax system. A FairTax will reward and encourage principles like savings and investment. The FairTax will have a dramatic impact on our economy by stimulating capital investment and economic growth while eliminating the burden that income tax compliance places on our economy. Simply put, a FairTax will promote growth and prosperity in our country. It is time to scrap the income tax, inheritance tax, etc. and replace it FairTax. I will not only support the FairTax bill (HR 25) -- I will be a co-sponsor of the bill and I will work to get this legislation passed in Congress.

Being a small business owner with over 130 employees and growing on average 200% a year for the past four years -- I understand that the current system of taxation needs to be changed NOW.
