Pastors Letter

Dear Pastor:
Growing up in a strong Christian home, my dad and mom taught me values that last – deep faith in God, hard work, personal integrity, standing up for what’s right, and making a difference through my own actions.

Today, I’m running for Congress in our district because I want to take these time-tested values to a place that really needs them – Washington, D.C.
My personal relationship with Jesus Christ motivates me to get involved in making our nation stronger. This gives me hope for the future and the foundation for entering the public policy arena.

For too long we’ve seen liberals ridicule faith, and work to drive every reference of God from our culture. From attacking the traditional family by pushing for same-sex marriages to removing the Ten Commandments from public places, our Nation’s faith-based values are under attack.

Last year, I took a leading role bringing Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusade to Winston-Salem because we need to spread the Gospel. I’m also active in a community businessmen’s Bible study that seeks to disciple leaders. This Bible study is led twice a week by my father, who is also an ordained Baptist minister.

On the issues, I’m a strong, pro-family conservative who will stand unflinchingly for our values including:

* Protecting innocent human life as a precious gift from God.
* Supporting legislation recognizing marriage as between one man and one woman.
* Defending the rights of parents as they seek to raise their children.
* Opposing those who seek to eliminate every reference to God and faith from our Nation’s culture.
* Standing with President Bush to pass his common-sense agenda.
With our exemplary current congressman, Richard Burr, running for the United States Senate, we must elect a new congressman in the Republican primary in less than a year.

So, I’m trekking across our district talking to folks about the importance of this campaign.

Recently you received a letter from my pastor, Dr. Howard Wilburn, introducing me to you. Now I am, along with my Pastoral Steering Committee, hosting a pastor’s luncheon in your area.

I would be honored if you would join me for a free lunch. I have enclosed a list of the dates, times and places for your convenience along with a short article about why Christians should be involved in civil government.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. You and I both know the need, now more than ever, Christians to get involved in the affairs of our Nation.

So, I ask you to join me at lunch for a time of fellowship. You can contact me at 336-993-0929 or Nathan@taborforcongress.com. I look forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,

Nathan Tabor
