Tabor Supports Ten Commandments, Asks for Referendum Sites Judge Roy Moore’s Approach to Ten Commandments Kernersville, NC – Today, 5th Congressional District candidate Nathan Tabor embraced the display of the Ten Commandments by fellow candidate Vernon Robinson but had some reservations about how Robinson went about displaying the religious symbol. “Look, I think it is a great idea, but if Christian Conservatives are going to be successful spreading the good word, we must build consensus. For example, when Judge Roy Moore ran in Alabama, he campaigned proclaiming he would install the Ten Commandments at the Supreme Court of Alabama and the voters endorsed the matter by electing Moore,” said Tabor. “There is a clear difference here.” Tabor’s campaign contends that Robinson has taken a “hot button” issue and turned it into a publicity stunt. However, the “stunt” could have a positive effect nonetheless. “Robinson placed the monument when no one was watching. I think a better approach would be a referendum. I believe the people of Winston-Salem would endorse a proposal to place the Ten Commandments at City Hall. Robinson has the right message but the wrong approach. I would govern differently,” Tabor said. The issue shows a stark contrast between the two candidates, both of whom have been described as religious conservatives. Tabor contends this example demonstrates who will be effective and who will not if elected to Congress. “Robinson is caustic and his mode of operation is to divide people, rather than unite them. I believe that to lead you must listen, stick to your principles, present a good argument, and voters will endorse your leadership and count on you to represent their interests. Judge Roy Moore has proven that,” said Tabor. “Ultimately, we need to be discussing the Ten Commandments and other moral issues. We need a return of moral people to leadership. These discussions are important, let’s just take the right approach.” Previously, the Tabor for Congress campaign announced an event on February 5th with Judge Roy Moore. After receiving a verbal and written confirmation from Moore’s organization, Judge Moore decided to focus on his own political agenda. Judge Moore has filed an appeal to be reinstated to the Alabama Supreme Court. Over 90 Pastors in the 5th District along with Dr. Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Beverly LaHaye, Sandy Rios, Mike Farris, Roger Wiles, Robynn Rutledge, Scott Johnson and other national, state and local religious leaders agree that Nathan Tabor is Right for Congress.
